Passive heave compensation (PHC)
Our passive heave compensators are designed for lifting operations offshore. The system is positioned between the crane hook and the load and automatically compensates for wave motion.
Operating principle: hydraulic cylinders combined with gas accumulators absorb the heave. The rope remains under tension at all times, reducing peaks and troughs.
Advantages:
- No external power supply required, fully stand-alone
- For use both above and underwater
- Reduces costs by enabling work at higher sea states
- No special lifting frames needed
- Increases the operational weather window
